Drinking Alcohol When You Don T Know Whether You Re Pregnant

I already am well aware of the damages that alcohol causes a fetus, but I foresee some drinking in the next few days, and I do not know whether I am pregnant or not. The obvious answer is to just not drink until you get your period, but it's easier said than done when there are holiday parties. We haven't been *trying* to conceive, but we did have unprotected s_x on a supposedly fertile day (Dec 23). However, we've gone through this for a few months now, and I have not gotten pregnant so far. I'm 38 and have no children. I am a social drinker, and I have done very well abstaining from alcohol while waiting for my period the past few months, but this next week will be hard for me, with parties to attend. This is definitely not the first time I've thought I might be pregnant. I had a miscarriage years ago, so I am fertile, but it's been a false alarm so many times, now I'm thinking it's probably going to be okay to have some alcohol because there's such a good chance I am not pregnant. I would regret drinking if I actually was pregnant, but I have had unprotected s_x on fertile days the last 3 months and I have not gotten pregnant yet . I know other women have been here. Any thoughts?

My only suggestion is not to drink. Is drinking that important? Not to sound judgemental, but for myself, I know I would worry myself silly if I drank and then found out I was pg. I guess its all what you think you can handle. Maybe only have small sips on a full tummy. I am sure many women have had alcohol in their first trimester and gone on to have healthy babies. Its up to you. Good luck!
