My partner has been using cocaine for about 13 years...and we were planing to have a child, but i am afraid that the baby will not be born normal. I never try drugs. He is 33 and I am 31.

I checked on the Dr. Drew website and this is what he said, "I know of no evidence that the use of cocaine, or other stimulants, by a male has any impact on the child. If your father was a drug addict, you may have a higher chance of becoming an addict yourself, since addictive tendencies are heritable. That is about the only, but very important, thing I can think of that you might need to be concerned about." Of course, you will get people who say that the fact that he uses cocaine is a bigger problem because of the unpredictability of a stable environment for the baby. But if you think you are both ready for a baby and after 13 years his drug use hasn't landed him in jail, debt or violent episodes, it sounds like he has it under control. Like I said, many people will have issue with what I just said, but I think there is a difference between drug use and drug abuse. Good luck to you and your boyfriend.
