Due Date Confusion

MY question is this: they say you go by the first day of your last peroid, right. Well the first day of my last peroid would be i guess Jan 5th, which would make me to date 19w.5d but when i went for my first ultrasound on march 10th it showed my 7 weeks to the day, which would make me 18.5 right now. which date do i go by??? due oct 12th or oct 26th?

Well the ultrasounds can be off by 2 weeks give or take...so my dr always tells me (if I'm positive of the dates) to go by original due date. My first US with my last baby was off by 1 week and then later on with my second US measurements were higher by 1 week. So I guess what I'm saying (in not so short of words) is that I would go by your LMP and you should be 19w 5d.

My due date was done on my LMP and put done as sept 11th, at the first scan the baby size moved forward to sept 20th. Then my next scan put me back to sept 11th! I just think, baby will show when he's good and ready, but I have the early date in mind as I want to be prepared - plus it makes it all nearer!

I know my due date is July 18, but by the ultrasound it makes it July 24. There's no way I conceived when they say I did, so I know it's July 18. Although, I let the dr. call it whatever she wants to. I agree with Soph about it making it all the sooner, just don't let the sooner date get you discouraged if it pa__ses. I would just use the sooner date to make sure you're ready when the baby does decide to come..... :O}

you see i know the week or days that i would of concieved, but what i'm confused about is do i follow the 40 week cycle from the day i know i concieved or the 38 week one???

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I DON'T KNOW IF IM 10 WEEKS ALONG OR 12 WEEKS ALONG. MY LMP WAS MARCH 1ST WHICH WOULD MAKE ME 13 WEEKS. BUT MY U/S MEASURES THE BABY AS 9 WEEKS 5 DAYS. IM SO CONFUSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The ultra sound is much more accurate in the first trimester, after that it can be off be 2 weeks either way so it is not very accurate, but if you had an early ultrasound and a later one and they are consistent and your measuring consistentl with them, I would go by the u/s. I too had the same problem but it was caught at what I thought was 7.5 weeks was really just under 6.5 weeks and my 20 wk u/s and all my measurments have matched that, so that is what I am going by

Lin, the dr. goes by 40 weeks from the first day of your lmp. the day you conceived should be 2 weeks later. So if the dr. says you are 18 weeks, you conceived 16 weeks ago. But everything is referred to using the 40 weeks. The exception is, that sometimes, as you know, they change your due date because of an u/s, which would move your "weeks" up or back. Hope that helps. I know it's confusing!
