Finding Some Of This Site Disturbing

have noticed several women who are convinced they are pregnant even tho they have been told many times by doctors that they are absolutely not. they have had ultrasounds which show nothing, internal exams which show nothing. when it comes close to due date they change the due date or simply dissapear. phantom pregnancy is a serious mental health issue. stop encouraging them and give them help. telling them that some women dont produce hgh so tests dont work is not helping.

dont bother giving me abuse because im not the one telling mentally ill people that the doctors are wrong

there is also alot of women who have been told in the early atages they are definatly not pregnant by a doctor on to find out a few months later that they are3/4 months pregnant. I agree with what you are saying that phantom pregnancy is a serious mental health issue, but there have been cases where women do not produce hcg so they do fail tests.

i had 10 negative tests before i found out i was 2 months preg

i agree with you about false negatives etc. i took a test when i was 5 weeks( was going on hol, didnt want to drink if i was pregnant) about a week and a half later i took another test after being very sick after drinking wine and it was positive. it just seems a lot of women are being given false hope. i feel very sorry for them as it must be horrible being convinced you are preg for nine months, having people say yeah i think you are then never actually having a baby. i just wonder if they are getting any help now they are no longer on this site or if they are on another site saying the same thing?

i obviously have not read the same threads as you becuse i have never read antyposts from women sayinging they are that far along believing they are preggo when the doctors are stating otherwise.

sorry about the typos, i'm sure you get my drift.

les22 - May 11

there is one thread where two women are far along. one even bought a stroller.

there is another under the preg tests by a woman called karina. one of the women on that thinks she is 5 months

i know the one you are talking about, they think they are between 15 and 24 weeks pregnant, but these women have got an appointment with their gyno soon so then i suppose they will have some answers.

This issue is tough. False negatives do sometimes happen, mostly early on in pregnancy. However, it is a pretty rare occurance and it is just not possible that all of the women on here who have missed a period are actually pregnant and not producting hcg. If you scroll through the posts, there are hundreds of women who are claiming that they have had all kind of symptoms but have had negative urine and blood tests and just KNOW they are still pregnant. There are only a few instances where there have been updates and pregnancy has proved to be true. I don't know what to say, because although I want to be helpful, I think a lot of false hope is given on this site.

I've read the thread that Karina posted and frankly she worries me. She had had an ultrasound that showed NO BABY, she has had 2 negative blood test AND her hubby had a vasectomy years ago. I know a vasectomy can fail, I know that you can get negative hpt's and still be pregnant and some have even had negative blood test, even though that one is a bit less uncommon. But come on, when someone like her has had so much proof that she is not pregnant, it's sad to see women encourage her fantasy's. If she is 15-24 weeks pregnant (which btw is a big gap for guessing and gives her room to keep the fantasy going) she should know and you can't hide a baby that far along from test. she even said she rented a fetal doppler and could hear her baby "swimming" in there but she has never gotten a heart beat, when someone pointed out that she should be getting a heartbeat by now, she insisted that she hasn't used it in awhile because her husband wouldn't let her. If i was believing so strongly I was pregnant, do you think I wouldn't be trying to find a heartbeat? Sorry If I ranted on here, but that woman scares me. She seems to be the kind that makes every one around her "believe" she is pregnant and then goes and still's another woman's baby. It's sad to see so many supporting her instead of suggesting a good mental exam.

yeah i read all about that. i think what she actually heard was blood in an artery on her lower abdomen. i had a look on my own stomach and as i am very pale you can clearly see one where she said she placed the probe.

I rented a doppler when I was 12 weeks and found the heart beat with no problem. You also hear alot of other noises from your own blood flow. The one I rented came with a cd that demonstrates the different sounds you will hear, even the baby movements. I have never heard the baby bumping around without being able to hear the heart beat at the same time.
