I was just wondering if any of you girls have done Follistim u/p? Not that I am going to do this, but I heard a friend of mine say she has a friend that had some left over and was going to use it. She has struggled with fertility for 4 years now. She has tried clomid and nothing happened. What do you girls think, should I say something or let her take it. If any of you have taken it u/p please let me know and for those you have taken it in general what was the outcome?

Hi Jade e bug!. I'm sorry your friend is struggling. However she should not take it unless her doctor knows and she is under medical care preferrably by a Reproductive Endocrinologist. When i took Follistim the RE monitored me every other day until my follicles were ready to be released. Then I did a trigger shot which forces ovulation. Follistim is a very powerful drug which can cause ovarian overstimulation and can be dangerous if she's not monitored. Please advise your friend if she wants to do injections such as follistim to be sure to discuss it with her doctor first and by no means do it on her own! I wish her luck!

Thanks Allie...I have talked to her and I think I have convinced her NOT to do it...:) I will let her know the extent of the meds and what you said about being monitored the way you were...I am sure that will change her mind if anything! :) Best of luck to you and thanks for the info!
