I haven't heard that. I think that only applies if you have gestational diabetes. I've been eating pineapples and I've been perfectly fine.

It is said that eating a lot of pineapple near your due date can bring on labor because of the enzymes it contains...supposedly it encourages dialation or something. I can't remember the exact details but thats the jist of it. The other 2 mantioed contain enzymes as well...i don't think you have to worry too much though. I ate LOTS of pineapple to bring on labor and it did nothing...I love fresh pineapple and eat it a lot. I am 6 weeks along.

It's a traditional belief for my people not to eat pineapple during early pregnancy because its taste is too 'sharp' and might cause miscarriage. And so does sugar cane too. As for papaya, I heard only unripe papaya is dangerous because of the latex that might cause miscarriage too. But ripe papaya is fine. And I also have people told me not to drink coconut water during early pregnancy. But it's good to drink lots of it in the advanced month because it's supposedly make baby's skin smoother and nicer.
