This is just an FYI that has nothing to do with pregnancy, but I wish someone would have told me... When your child gets an ear infection, before running off to the doctor for yet another dose of antibiotics, try Tylenol for the fever/pain and Similison ear drops for the infection. My daughter (who is 2 1/2) has had about 10 ear infections in her life, the last two I treated with the drops and it worked like a charm. Everyone warns you to avoid antibiotics, so I just wanted to let you know that there are other options. Also, I would never consider trying this until your child was near 2 years old since fevers in infants are more serious and in need of a physicians care.

Wow, thank you very much! I have a 19 month old that had "drainage" in his ear recently. We gave him antibiotics, and when he was better, we got out of the habit and didn't give him the full bottle (bad mommy, lol). So a couple of weeks later, he started getting what looked like a sinus infection. So I just called and asked them to call me in another round of antibiotics. It doesn't seem to be helping much. He still has that green drainage, and he doesn't act like he feels very good sometimes. Do you think the Tylenol fever/pain is something good to try? I didn't know that about antibiotics. I'm so glad you shared this!

M ~ Antibiotic resistance in a relatively new threat that is just now really being talked about. I put this on here to help people like you who have not yet heard of it. I think you should try the Tylenol and call the doctor and ask about the Similison ear drops. On the box of the ear drops it says "do not use if there is any damage to the ear drum as evidenced by excessive discharge or bleeding." You mentioned your little one has drainage, so I would hesitate to use the drops with out the doctors approval. Google "treating ear infections" and "antibiotic resistance." That's what led me to try the homeopathic approach and i'm so glad did. I hope this helps. Hugs to your little guy.
