Contact you dr ASAPto find out what you should do.

When you went for your first visit and had all your blood work, did they tell you that you were immune to rubella? I was told that I am not. I would call your ob or nurse and let them know that you have come into contact with it. If you don't remember on the blood work they will look it up for you and tell you where you stand. Good luck.

You should be vaccinated for it, most people these days are. I have my medical card saying I was but then when I had my blood test they said they couldn't find the anitbodies for it. =O Weird eh?

Cathy - September 29

Kris, Most of us were vaccinated as kids, but never got our boosters while adults. That is probably why they can't find any antibodies.

No I had the booster as well...Just last year! And the REALLY weird part is that my mom when pregnant with both my older brother and younger brother she had the antibodies for rubella, and only with me they couldn't find the antibodies in her blood. =O She had the antibodies 3 years earlier with my big bro! lol I find that really weird!

mel-this can potentially be VERY VERY bad. Was this contact recent? It really does depend on whether or not you have had the imunization for german measles. If you in fact do come down with german measles you are screwed...its like the worst thing that can happen during pregnancy, the prognosis is grim. Talk to your dr. asap.
