Anyone out there on Glucophage or Metformin for second pregnancy, but did not take it during their first? This is my case and wondering what differences their might be. I have heard one thing might be less amnionic fluid. Anyone have any thoughts?

I am wondering about that too....Are you taking it for your whole pregnancy? My RE says I can stop when I get to 6 -8 weeks (that is if I can ever get pregnant!).

I took 1500 mg of metformin while pg with my third child, but not with my first two. I personally did not have less amniotic fluid or any other problems. I have PCO and was started on it by my RE, who helped me get pg with Austin.

I have PCOS. I was getting pregnant without it, (on chlomid for my son) But having miscarriages. It helps with my cycle of course and with insulin resistance (I finally stopped putting on the pounds when I went on it.) I got pregnant after 6 months. Which is pretty quick considering that I do not have a left tube (ruptured ectopic pregnancy). The reason I asked about the amniotic fluid is that I have read that women with PCOS tend to have too much amniotic fluid. This was very true with my first son. I was huge!!!! and all belly. They told me I would be having a 9-10 pounder. He was born a little over 8 pounds. I will continue to take the meds during the pregnancy b/c I want to stay on it while nursing. You can't start back on it while you are nursing, but you can stay on it if you have been on it throughout the pregnancy. Thanks for the feedback ladies.
