Group B Strep

I am 37 wks prg & had the GBS test done. I went back to my dr. for next check-up & asked the nurse if my test came back and she said, "Yeah, I believe everything looked good." and she never opened a chart in front of me or told me any different. Yesterday I had to pre-register at the hospital and the nurse informed me that my test was positive! I'm very upset...want to cry constantly. Is my baby going to be ok??

Don't stress! The good thig is that you now know about it and they can help deliver your baby safely with the help of antibiotics. They'll put you on a drip when you go into labor. Your baby should be fine.

but what are the chances that the med. won't help? I know that I am supposed to lay this at the feet of God but I am so scared that my baby will be punished b/c of something that is wrong with me!

Group B Strep isn't a punishment. It's just some bacteria in your system that you would never know was there if you weren't tested for it. You don't 'catch' it. It's just there. The hospital will put you on a drip of antibiotics and your baby should be fine.

I understand that it's just a bacteria (that started in the guts...gross) but they say you need two treatments of penicillin before you give birth...what if I go into labor and they don't have enough time to give me the medicine? They say that GBS is the most common cause of sepsis and meningitis in newborns.

Do your know if your baby has a head? I heard GBS causes babies to grow without heads.

It is very common in women to have that!! and tehy always check the chart to put u on antibodics... I had it w my daughter everything was fine!! dont worry!!!
