Having A Hard Time Keeping Prenatal Vitamins Down

I think like 90% of the time I take my prenatal vitamin, I get sick! I am 34 weeks along now and I know that whatever baby needs she will take it from my body..but I'm worried that my body doesn't have enough nutrients in it for her to even take! =S I eat good, but I am sure there are some things my body is lacking. Is anyone else having a hard time keeping their vitamins down? I eat with them too like my doc said to but it doesn't seem to be doing the trick. If anyone else has experienced this, what did you do to get all the nutrients you need?

Many people i know that could not take prenatals were told by their doctors to take flintstones chewable vitamins. I would ask your doctor before doing this though, just to make sure its okay.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I forget mine once in a while but I know I'm eating good and she's taking whatever she needs from me. My doc said more than anything the vitamins are for me, not the baby cus she's gonna take what she needs and leave me with nothing! I couldn't take prenatals. I took two Flinstones with iron. I still forget them and my midwife said it's okay.

Thanks for the input! I used to take flintstones when I was kid! I loved those! =P I will have to look into them for pregnancy. =)

My doc said they were just fine. I swear the only reason I got sick my first trimester was cus of the big horse pill ones they had me on. Once I quit taking them it went away it seemed. I've been on Flintstones ever since.

haha yeah the ones I make an attempt to take are big horse pills as well!! They are hard to get down in the first place..I don't appreciate them not staying down there! =P

hey..i am preg with the fourth and have always had a problem with them while preg...(about week 6 or 8 i have problems)...i actually only take 1/2 of one a day and that is usually better..plus your dr can give you a rx for chewables if the swallowing is the problem..but i am sure your diet is giving you what you need..think about how healthy our nation is compared to others and comared to 100 years ago...we have so much food and so many different kinds of foods i am sure you are ok even if you never took one

i take it at night alot of people said that helped them not get sick since you sleep through it all, someone else suggested drinking warm milk with it, i dont know about that one i hate milk!!

I took one at night a couple days ago and a few minits after laying in bed I had to run to the bathroom! =(

Kris-I too tried taking them at night and about 30 minutes later had to run to bathroom. With my 3rd pregnancy, my doctor said it was ok to take flintstone chewables too-so did and felt much better. I am now on my 4th preg. and doing the same with taking flintstones again.
