Hemorrhoids Question

Hi ladies. Can anyone tell me if pregnant women can get hemorrhoids as early as 3 months? Last night I woke up in the middle of the night with an itch and I thought I felt a little pimple there when I got up to go to the washroom. It isn't itchy today so far though and I didn't have time to check it out this morning because I was late for work. I would also like to know if there is anything we can do to prevent them?

You can really get hemorrhoids any time as far as I know, pregnant or not . . . but it's not a pimple at all, it's actual veins from inside the a__s. Try to avoid straining during BMs and eat a high-fiber diet to avoid constipation . . . those are really the only recommendations to help prevent them. Good luck!

Lmao! S.C. I tried to get my last comment in before yours...I didn't mean for you to slap a tucks on your hubby.

Hey there...I actually got hemorrhoids while I was taking bc pills. It took me forever to figure out what was causing it. I found certain foods aggravated it, like coffee and chocolate, but cutting those out only helped for a while. The main cause was the hormones in the pill, something to do with it's effect on circulation, esp. through the liver. When I stopped taking the pill they went away completely. Pregnancy hormones have a similar effect or maybe it's more the pressure on internal organs, slowing down of digestion, and restriction of circulation. The main thing you need to do is prevent the things from flaring up in the first place...once that starts, and the conditions that cause them are still there, you'll probably have to deal with it for the rest of the pregnancy. And it's not fun. I'm halfway through my pregnancy and doing good at keeping them at bay so far. I drink this Plum Smart juice or eat dried fruits everyday so I don't get too constipated...and I can never, never strain. It's better to skip a day and double up on the fiber than push one out. Also pay attention to the foods that might block you up...refined carbs might be one. Also, exercise will help because it stimulates better circulation. Sorry for the long post, but since I've had experinece with this I wanted to help. Good luck!
