How Far Gone Or Is It Twins

hi i recently found out i'm pregnant with my first child. i've been for my booking in appointment with my midwife and i'm either 7 & halfs weeks or 11 & half weeks. my last period was on 13/07/04 but it was slightly different to usual. she felt my abdomen & she has written on my notes where it says uterine size & presentation-? palpable. i've been told this means she thinks she can feel my uterus. she told me she thinks she can feel something. since then i've found out that if u have twins or multiples then ur uterus is larger earlier. would she be able to feel my uterus at 7 & half weeks if i was carrying twins? i have quite a bump and its rounded like a pregnant belly instead of just fat. any ideas? also how soon would she be able to feel my uterus on either single or twin pregnancies? thanks

Having a scan at 7 weeks seems VERY early which is probably why your midwife is having a lot of trouble. The first scan is usually the 12 week mark. I don't know about the US, but in the UK your doctor isn't bothered about your pregnancy untill you get to 12 weeks as any scan before thi time doesn't really show much! They can usually tell from a 12 week scan if it's twins. Good luck. Without seeming rude, a rounded belly could just be due to fat. Non pregnant women can look pregnant by having a rounded belly too.

hi thanks for replying. i haven't had a scan yet. i live in the uk and went for my booking in appointment with the midwife when i thought i was 7 weeks pregnant. whilst i was there we went through a few details together and she came to the conclusion that i may be 11 weeks rather than 7 weeks. she felt my abdomen and said she thinks she can feel something. she said that if she can feel something i must be 11 weeks rather than 7 weeks but i read somewhere that if you are having twins the uterus can be felt externally by the midwife earlier than with a single pregnancy.i wondered if this is true and if so, how soon can the uterus be felt externally with twins? i'm waiting for my appointment for my scan to come through. i'm not being funny about the belly bit, i do realise that people that arent pregnant can look pregnant but i'm not a fat person usually and even the midwife commented on my belly.
