I had a baby and starting taking birthcontol pills been taking them for almost 3 months. and we have decided to stop taking them and try to have another baby, so I was wondering how long does it usually take to get pregnant after you have been on the pill for 3 months and then stop? Does anyone know?

I thought I got pregnant on the pill originally, but I think that it happened in a 2-week gap when I ran out of birth control, adn the doctor's was so backed up I had to wait 2 weeks to get an appt. for more. I had been on it for well over a year, so I guess it just depends on the person. Took less than 2 weeks for me, but I have heard of it taking months as well.

I think everyone is a little different...but you are very fertile after you stop the pill. I stopped the pill thinking it would take me awhile to get pregnant. BOY I was wrong! I didn't even have a normal cycle after stopping the pill. I stopped the middle of May and was pregnant at the end of May / beginning of June. I was on the pill for 3 years too.

It took my sister in law 9 months from the time she stopped taking the pill.

It took me 6 months. Some women get pregnant right away, some has to wait. the average my doc said is between 4-10 months.

Johnna, I was on the pill for 3 years, I stopped taking the pill on October 21st, I was pregnant by Nov. 13th.....so it can happen right away. I think they say the average is 6months post pill, but be prepared if it is a lot sooner than that. Good luck!

I had the same question when I wasn't pregnant after a year of being off the pill. I took them for about 6 years. Several people kept saying that it usually takes as long as you were on the pills to get pregnant. I asked my doctor and he says it doesn't matter how long you took them or how long you've been off them. You can still conceive as soon as you stop taking them.
