Insurance Questions Please Help

My DH is being laid off after we just moved to colorado springs last week. Aside from being mad, I am more concerned about the insurance for my prenatal check-up. We currently have BCBS ppo, but in 2 weeks he will be on job hunting , Any suggestion on the insurance? If he finds a job, will my pregnancy be considered pre-existing condition and being denied? Or maybe I should just pay everything out of pocket? I really don't know what to do. Please help.

Mavis: sorry to hear of your news!!! How frustrating!! when your DH gets a new job you will be able to show that you were previously insured and therefore the new insurance plan likely will not consider your pregnancy a pre-exisiting condition. You do want to avoid a gap in coverage though -Depending on how fast he gets a new job with helath benefits and depending on when the current coverage expires (end of month? End of pay-period? On the last day worked? You need to ask his HR representative as every company does this differently) you may need to consider purchasing COBRA for the gap - it is expensive but so worth it! Good luck!
