I have a fractured hip, that will take time to heal my doctors tell me, but in the mean time, I have been taking hydrocodone for the pain, is this dangerous? My doctor said a few will not hurt, but I have been taking them for 6 weeks now. what should I be concerned about? I am 7 months.

I have been given percocet and lortabs as well. I am worried that my baby is going to have something wrong with it and it's going to be my fault. I mean the doctor did give them to me so they must be safe right? I am going to try to only take them when I am in extreme pain. I asked the doctor about it and she told me that it's better to take them then suffer in pain all of the pain and your emotions are transfered over to the baby. I just feel really guilty like I am harming it

Hydrocodone (Vicodin, Lortab) is a Category C drug. Oxycodone (Percocet) is a Category B, for pregnancy. You may ask to be switched to Oxycodone since it has more information about its effects on the fetus.

My OB said Vicodin was okay, and my Family Practice doctor said it wasn't. My Family Practice doctor swithced me to Percocet. So, like E said, you might consider switching. I als noticed that I didn't feel so "drugged" when I switched to Percocet. Vicodin always left me feeling out of it and hung over.
