I know it sounds stupid but is it ok to go tanning while you are pregnant? I am 14 weeks tomorow...and I need some fake bake! What if I covered my stomach and just did the chest and face?

My doctor said it's perfectly fine... just think about all the pregnant woman you see in the summer if its ok for them to lay out in the sun its ok for you to lay in a tanning bed you don't need to cover your belly either.

I have read a little on this, the danger isn't in the rays, because they can't penetrate more than the first few layers of skin. However, there is danger in the heat. If you overheat, it can cause serious damage to your baby. Seems like I read that damage to the baby's spinal cord is especially a risk. If you decide to tan, please make sure the bed hasn't been laid in recently, and that it isn't already hot. And I wouldn't lay very long at a time. Personally, I wouldn't do it at all. But if you do, take caution! Good luck.
