It Burns

OK so I am 29 weeks now (YAY!) and the heartburn is really starting to get unbearable. I can't hardly eat anything because I just feel sick to my stomach from the acid all the time. The TUMS just don't cut it anymore. What are you ladies doing to cope????

I've decided that from now on I'm staying away from red meat, because it's started to make me feel bad and the indigestion seems to last for a couple of days after I've eaten it. I try not to eat normal sized meals anymore. I just eat little and often. Also, fatty foods are a problem at the moment, but spicy foods are ok. I find it helps a bit if I prop myself up in bed with pillows. Tums don't do me any good either. Someone on this site suggested almonds. They said, take 3 of them, suck them until the outside goes a bit soft, then chew and swallow. I heard it works for a lot of people, but I tried it and unfortunately I hate almonds and couldn't bring myself to eat more than one. So, I guess I'll just have to suffer for the next 7 weeks. :(

Call your doc and explain how bad it really is. Sometimes the nurses will b__w you off and say tums only but insist they ask him/her about taking zantac or something like it. When I was pregnant w/ my daughter it was so bad I just couldn't take it. The nurse would tell me I couldn't take anything but tums or something like it, but when I asked the doc he said zantac 75 in the morning and night would be fine. It really helped me alot.
