I am 5 months pregnant...and Im worried because I just lifted something pretty heavy to my car (it was actually a metal fold up baby crib in a bag). im worried that i could have caused damage to the baby? has anyone lifted anything heavy ? i know we all can't avoid everything....but now im super worried. id say i lifted about 60 lbs. and carried it on one side.

If you could manage to lift it, you are likely fine:) There will be a point where you won't be able to lift anything that weighs more than 5 pounds, without feeling some strain. If you are healthy and all, there should be nothing to worry about. In the future, have a hot neighbor help you:)

I was told that you can lift anything up to 50lbs and still be fine. But like E said either wait for someone else or ask someone for help.

I certainly wouldn't do it again, but I am sure you are just fine. I did a lot of stupid things, like balancing on a ladder and hanging curtains. Before anyone at work knew I was pregnant, I had a meeting on the third floor of a building, no elevator, and had to carry huge boxes of supplies up the spiral staircase. I was sore for days and strained myself more than I had when I wasn't pregnant. So things happen - just don't make a habit of it - ask for help! I won't even carry a full laundry basket these days!

I'm 8 months and still lifting my 40lb daughter sometimes. It puts a strain on my back, but my baby is doing fine. If you have to lift something heavy, see if it comes apart. For example, if the metal crib was a pack and play, you could take the mattress out and lift it separately, and then lift the metal frame part. That's how I moved mine.
