Measuring Weeks In Pregnancy

I'm confused about something. If I just got a positive HPT and that was after being a week late for my period, does that mean that I'm already 5 weeks along? or only 3 weeks? Thx in advance for your answers

Your about 5 weeks pregnant. You take the date of your LMP as day one, and when you ovulate (approximatley 14 days later) you are techincally two weeks pregnant. Hope this helps.

count from the first day of your last period. So if your last period started on March 8th...you would be 5 weeks today. (you obviously were'nt pregnant when you started your last period...so the acutal growth of your baby would be approx 3 weeks)

Okay, thanks Steph! btw, am I the only one who finds that odd? I mean, that means the first trimester is almost half over already!

Thanks Krista! So when i talk to the doctor, will he talk in terms of 'growth of the baby' or the other, longer kind of calendar?

Almost all doctors, I've never met one who doesn't, refers to weeks based on your LMP, not gestional age. :o)
