Just wondering if any of you ladies are active duty or military spouses? My husband is in the Air Force and I have some questions about Tricare

Hey YES! My husband is also Air Force and I have been meaning to post and ask how poeple deal with the deployments etc. through the pregnancy! I'm only 20 and so is my husband, I sometimes just wish he could get out already!

How cool..I just saw your due date! I'm July 8th too! E-mail me if you want [email protected]

Thats cool! Hey girls- I found a wonderful military spouse support site at support4life.com. There are a lot of very supportive wemon there. They will be able to help more with the deployment thing because my husband has not been in long enough to go through that yet. Shannon- I feel the same way you do. I hate the military life and just want him to get out already, but we have five more years left! I've been really down since I found out I'm pregnant, because I already have a 5 month old, and I'm so far away from home. Thats really funny that we are all due around the same time. Where are you guys stationed at? We are at Grandforks AFB, ND. Do either of you know if Tricare will cover a midwife, or do I just have to settle with what I get?

How Crazy! I was wondering if they cover midwives as well...still havent found out! I have my first prenatal appointment next monday so I'll probably find out then. My husband is stationed at Robins AFB in Warner Robins GA. I'm from GA so its not so bad now...I'm only an hour away from most of my family. I'm just really worried about how things will be when we move far away. I hate the thought of being some place with a baby and not knowing anyone. How old are y'all? My husband and I are 20.

I am 23 and my husband is 22. I am from Missouri, so I am pretty far from home. It sucks pretty bad. But fortunatley, my parents are doing pretty good in the money department, so they buy me plane tickets to some home often. That helps a lot! Is this your first baby?

Shannon - November 22

Yep this is our first...my husband is also from MO....KC to be exact!

Is there anything you suggest I try for stretch mark prevention? I've been using shea b___ter from B&BW and pure vitamin E oil. I just got some cocoa b___ter today but the smell makes me gag!

lilmama - November 22

I lived 1 1/2 hours form kc! I used Palmers cocoa b___ter but still got some. After wards, if you have them use Mederma, it is wonderful. Didnt fully take them away yet, but i havent been using is as directed. It faded them alot though!

My husband is stationed here at Elmendorf Air Force Base and I am now on my eight week of pregnancy! :)

I was also excited to see this post. My husband in in the Air Firce and I am 10-11 weeks pregnant. I am very lucky because he is not being deployed this rotation. What bases is everyone at? Oh and about the midwife question--- you all must have much better care at your bases. This base is very busy and difficult to get an appointment. My understanding is if you want a midwife you would have a significant cost share because you would have to see and off base provider. Depending on if you have tricare standard or tricare prime the share part would vary. Good luck and I would love to find out if anyone is at Andrews or Boling???

Hi Liz! I am stationed at Grandforks ND and covered in snow!! BOO! I am now 13-15 weeks pregnant, i will find out for sure on the 13th when they do an ultrasound. How long has your husband been in? We have been at our fist base for about 6 months now. This is our second baby. Just ask if you have any questions (military or pregnancy) I get on this site about everyday

Liz - January 4

Thanks! We have been here about 6 months and the Air Force has really treated us well. I am so nervous about the baby but I am also ready to start my family. I just wish I knew some other expecting women my age. I work with all men and they are great but they just don't understand.

lilmama - January 4

Hey liz i dont know about the base you are at but here they have a new mom support group for pregnant wemon and a mom and tots playgroup for new moms, check at family advocacy or the family support center and see if your base offers anything like that. You can meet new women that way

Liz - January 5

Thanks I'll ask at my next appointment its only 2 weeks away.
