Here is our new thread. Ally rolled over for the first time yesterday. Yeah... How is everyone doing? It doesn't feel like we post much anymore. Have a great 4th!

jas - July 4

Jadon isn't even thinking about rolling over yet! Congrats! He is doing other things though... He is putting two syllables together (ah-oh ... mmm-ga) and holds his rattle pretty well... He started to scoot a little and is figuring out how to move. Happy 4th all!

Wow, Zach is not there yet at all - tummy time is sometimes tough since he doesn't like it all that much, but that is getting better too. He had his 6 month shots last week - sigh - it was a tough one. Nurse said that they start remembering more now. He cried and cried. I felt so bad. Poor guy- sure wish we could take them for him. His great Aunt and Uncle were here for 4 days to visit- it was nice for them to see them. They are like 2nd parents to me. There really is not much new- we're on cereal daily now and will start veggies in a few weeks per our ped. Glad all is well with everyone. I hope to get on here more often!!!

wow- no sooner had I finished posting when my mom told me that Zach had rolled over all on his own - and to think I had just taken the dog for a walk - what will I miss when I go back to work? Thankfully it will not be until January!!

Charlene, how funny! THAT IS SO GREAT! Yeah Zach!!! When did you start him on rice cereal? My ped said between 4 and 6 months but I don't know when to do that? How do you know when to start?

Charlene - July 4

Angie, Our ped said to try it teh last time I was there - about a month ago. She said to start small 1tsp in the morning and again at lunch and move up to a Tbsp and then gradually up I guess. I am now giving Zach a Tbsp and a half twice a day. There is so much confusing stuff out there. Our nursing team said that we should wait until he was 6 months corrected (that wouold be 8 months for Zach), but our ped said it was fine. They say that the gut may not be developed enough - sigh - so I asked the ped last time about this and she said itw as fine - she said that there are many of us who started early and we turned out fine!!! The nurse gave me a pamphlet the last visit and here are some things it says: why they want you to wait: 1)baby may drink less b___st milk or formula and this is what they need to grow and develop. 2) baby's stomach not yet ready to digest this type of food 3) may increase baby's chance of developing food allergies 4) may not yet be ready to swallow and may choke Signs that your baby may be ready for solid food: 1) between 4-6 months 2) can sit up with very little help 3) can hold head up 4) opens mouth when food is offered 5) able to take the food from a spoon 6) can turn head to acept or refuse food They also say that if baby is being fed b___st milk or formula on demand and still seems hungry - baby may be ready to try solid food. I find that rice cereal gets runny fast. But I think that is what they need to start. When it is thicker at first, Zach makes a face - it is quite cute. He gets used to it by a couple spoonfuls and gobbles it all down. The nurse also suggested that we feed the cereal at night - right before bed ( we were having sleeping troubles) so I give him cereal in the morning and at night (bedtime) It has seemed to help. I just make sure he gets some b___st milk after to wash it all down. Everything is so unknown and scary- that's for sure. We all want to do teh best for our kids, but everything is always so conflicting. What was good yesterday, changes so fast. Good luck and let us know how it goes!! How old is the little one now? (sorry I forget names)

Did you check out the gerber website the other forum suggested, Angie? It has a ton of info and gives you the signs to look for.

Angie in MI - July 5

Thanks for the info! Ally is 3.5 months. She isn't ready yet, but I want to figure this out before hand. 4 months will be here in a few weeks!! Anyhow.... inlaws are here... Allys schedule is all out of wack! I really need to learn to speak up and say when it is time for bed feedings, etc, but it is so hard!!! SIGH

Hi ladies, I wanted to stop by and share my good new. I lost 5lbs last week. YAY ME!!! I am doing slim fast and it seems to be working. I am allowed 5 servings of friuis and veggies and a "sensible meal". I am starving but when I want a snack I think about having to stuff my b___t into a wedding dress next year. I hope everyone is doing well. Angie the gerber website is great and if you sign up on-line or call in they send you lots of coupons. You can also call and ask questions, I did this, they are very helpful. Kai's GI specialist made a meal plan for her that is suitable for any baby starting solids. I would be happy to send it to you if you would like. It breaks down everything like when to introduce a new food, etc. We had to follow it very strictly but since Ally hasn't had any tummy trouble maybe you can use it as a reference. So far so good, we made it through all the Stage 1 foods with no allergic reactions. Now we are on to the Stage 2. Kai doesn't have much interest in solds still but the ped. says that should change.

Hi, ladies! Hope everyone has a great holiday! Our's was a lot of fun and had a few wonderful surprises. We went out to the Hamptons to stay at a beach house we had rented, but little did I know that there had been other plans made without my knowledge. First of all, DH sent me to spend a few hours at a local spa for some pampering (had a manicure, pedicure and facial) and while I was gone, he snuck a bunch of my friends into the house and they set everything up for a surprise shower! I had NO IDEA this was going to happen! I figured since this is my second child, there wouldn't be any showers this time around. My fabulous pals fixed a ton of great food and brought such lovely gifts. I don't think I have anything else to buy for baby at this point. The whole trunk and half the backset of the rental car were both filled to maximum capacity. DS was running around shouting surprise, surprise! And he helped me open all of my gifts. I still cannot get over how gererous they all were. (I started the thank you cards today) But the best part was when we got home. DH had one more trick up his sleeve. While we were gone for the weekend, he had made arrangements to have the baby's room painted and had the circular crib I have been coveting a__sembled and waiting when I walked into the room last night. I'm still in shock. I've been feeling good despite the heat and honestly think the amount of water I drink has a great deal to do with that. I can't tell you the last time I drank anything other than water or a small gla__s of juice. No coffee or soda! YC: Congrats on kissing those 5 lbs. good-bye! Charlene & Angie: Hooray for Zach & Ally!

YC - July 5

Artemisia what a wonderful weekend. Your hubby is great. My soon-to-be hubby is also wonderful but I'm still jealous LOL!!!! I am glad you are feeling so well! I love the circular crib! A new specialty baby store just opened up near my house and they have BEAUTIFUL circular ba__sinets.

YC - July 6

It's ok, thanks for asking! My 11 yr old is getting into lying so that has been a challange. With all that has been going on with Jadon (he is a demanding little guy) Nathan was asked to take on more responsibility and he is balking. Jadon hates his swing so leaving him somewhere is impossible since dh works nights and has to sleep during the day - keeping the house quite is a challange. Jadon hates his car seat (probabally too much traveling around Japan when he was born, poor kid lived in his car seat) so going out is a pain. He hates any kind of confinment, but has to be held. Then Nathan is following me around like my dog wanting to help, but then once you give him something to do, he dosn't want to do it, will lie about it and uggg - frustrating. I am as big as a house and wanted to start my 1/2 diet I was on before I got pregnant. I lost 32 lbs in 4 months and ate whatever I wanted. I would make a plate and only eat 1/2 of what was on my plate... I just can't get motovated.... We are getting ready to move to England at the end of the year (I think I posted that before) so getting everything ready for the move is keeping me busy since I have to weed out a lot of stuff before we go. My girlfriend in the states is getting married in November and with the move, I won't be able to afford to attend since I quit my job. And that's official now - my job has been posted on my company web site :( I still wasn't ready to give that up, but daycare here REALLY sucks. After overhearing a provider complain to her friend (at the grocery store) one of her kids was a pain in the b___t with non stop crying she wanted to throw him through the wall.... Well.... There was no way in HELL Jadon was going there. Unfortunately, that was my only option here on base without going through a home daycare - been there done that with my first - not again. So... Guess that's about it. Jadon is getting so big! He is 3 1/2 months and weighs 16.1 lbs and is 26" long... Three months and is wearing 6 month clothing... He didn't stay in his newborn outfits long at all... I wonder if the GD had anything to do with it. He was only a 1/2 pound more then my other when he was born, but seems to be growing much faster... Speaking of them - one is up the other is crying... Thanks for "seeing" me , YC :) I needed that.
