Nicotine Patches

I know I should try and stop smoking on my own but its really hard. Has anyone done the patches and have been ok using them? I know it says to inform your doctor which I will tomorrow. I feel I need that little help to stop. I know pregnancy should make me set them down but its been so hard. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think the patches are recommended as they go right into your blood stream, but the doctor will tell you for sure.

My doctor said absolutely not on the patches or gum. He was willing to prescribe Wellbutrin and it did help. You may want to ask about that.

I had the same problem and what my doc told me was that it is not best to stop cold he wanted me on the patch because with the patch the baby is getting the Nicotine yes but thats it as opposed to Nicotine and all the chemicals that comes with smoking a cigg he also said that it is bad for mom and baby when you quit cold because that sends the baby into a little bit of a shock or withdrawl I hope this helped

I hear you!! It has been hard for me too. I feel so bad every time I smoke especially when other people see me too. I am obviously pregnant but my doctor said that as long as I am cutting down that is good

well, it is best to stop completely..the patch gives the baby nicotine, too...but the patch may be better than cigs if you absolutely can't stop any other way..talk to your dr first before using and see what he says
