No Period After Stopping Breastfeeding And Pregnant

I have a 9 month old son who I br___tfed exclusively for 8 of those months. I stopped br___tfeeding about 5 weeks ago and am thinking I could be pregnant again though I'm not certain (home preg test came back negative a week ago). My period never returned while br___tfeeding or in the weeks since I've stopped which has been a little concerning to me. I know they say it can take up to 3 months for your period to return once you stop br___tfeeding, so I guess I can still be in that waiting phase. Over the past week I've been nauseated and very bloated (I almost look pregnant!) ... could be a sign my period is on its way or pregnancy. I don't know what to think! Has anyone been through a similar situation. We want to get pregnant again, yet I'm trying not to get my hopes up either.

I got pregnant when I just stopped b___stfeeding my son, and I did not get a period inbetween. I had no idea I was pregnant, since I thought I was in the "waiting period", but then after a few weeks, I started getting nauseous every morning, so I took a test and it turned out that I was 6 weeks pregnant. Looking back, the only sign I should have picked up on is that after I stop b___stfeeding, my b___sts usually shrink considerably, but this time, they didn;t shrink. If you really don't want to wait to find out, then have a blood test taken, that should tell you for sure. Good luck.

Thanks so much for your advice ... I appreciate your thoughts and input, especially the fact that you got pregnant shortly after stopping b___stfeeding. That sounds promising as we are really hoping to conceive again soon, if we havn't done so already :). I may just make an appt with my OB/gyn and confirm if, in fact, I am pregnant. Thanks again!!

I got pregnant while my 8 month old daughter was still b___stfeeding. I hadn't had a period since her birth, but we decided to ttc again... since it had taken 21 months to conceive her we thought it would take a long time. Well, I started temp-charting to get an idea where I was in my cycle (or if I was having cycles yet) and had a temp spike 2 days later... I got pregnant that first time!

Wow, congrats on getting pregnant again. It seems like once your body goes through it, it's easier to get pregnant the next time around. I'm thinking I'm not pregnant ... my 2nd hpt came back negative so I'm a little bummed, but I know it'll happen. Since I'm obviously not getting my period yet, how do I know when or if I'm ovulating. I'm so confused with not having my period. You mentioned that you were temp-charting?? What is that?? We've not conceived in the past 5 weeks since I've stopped b___stfeeding and I guess I'm merely anxious to have 2 that are close in age. Thanks again and God bless!

Temp-charting is taking your Basal Body Temperature first thing in the morning and plotting it on a graph. If you are ovulating your temperature will spike when you O and it around that time when you can get pregnant. If not your temp will stay pretty baseline... within a degree or so (barring illness, that is). There are a lot of variables that can affect it, though, so you should ask your doctor for the specifics. You could probably find a website with more info, too. It's a little complicated at first, but once you know what you are doing it's easy. I learned how to do it when we were ttc our daughter, because the fertility specialist wanted to have a clearer idea of when I was Oing in a cycle... because I was only having 3-4 periods/year.
