So, I went to the doctor today for some problems I've been having. i decided to get checked out before I chose to have anymore babies. First thing, is my hip. it was popping all the time and hurting me a lot. Turns out the cartlidge was ripping away and deteriorating. They gave me some kind of mega steroid for it. :-s It hasnt popped since then though... And the next thing, is my blood work. I'm anxious about that and won't know for a few days though. :-(

ah ok, thyroid is easy to fix! good luck w/all of your tests! how did this happen to your hip?

Honestly I have no clue how it happened to my hip. I really don't... But it was hurting me a lot. Ever since I had the shot though, it's felt a lot better and I haven't had a very hard time at all, you know? It's nice. And today, I went in to the doctor and I guess the levels for your thyroid should be .3-5 and mine were 15. He gave me synthyroid (a pill) and said it could be taken even while pregnant with no risk to baby or mother. And so, I'm excited about that. Yay.

Carolina, I have hypothyroidism too. It really is not a big deal unless you forget or miss your meds. Your OB needs to know that you are taking it because you need to have frequent blood draws to check your TSH, especially during the first trimester. If you don't and you are not regulated then it can cause you to lose the baby. Your thyroid gland helps to regulate all the other systems in your body and if you aren't making enough of the hormone it throws everything off, in a really bad way. I have been taking synthroid for the past 11 years and always managed to stay pretty well regulated. I take 137mcg's every morning before I brush my teeth. You either want to take the medication an hour before you eat or two hours after. I find it easier to take it in the morning first thing. Also, if your doctor started you on synthroid and is regulating you on synthroid, then don't let the pharmacist give you the generic, I think it is called lovoxil. Yes it is the same medication but the levels can be off a bit even at the same dose,and that could adversly affect you. I am so glad you got checked out, and I am sorry your hip has been so bothersome. Good luck on ttc. :o}

Well, they started me on the generic brand. It's the same kind my grandma takes. I don't know if it will affect me badly or not.... But I don't know when I'm going to TTC. I might wait a few more months. I don't want to, but I'm really not sure if I should right now or not...

The meds they have you on are fine. The only reason I can think of to wait a few months would be to make sure you are regulated first, maybe just ask your OB his opinion. Everything will be fine, once you are on the meds and regulated, there is really nothing to worry about. Happy ttc!! :o}

Yeah, it takes up to 4 months to see whether or not they have you on the right level of thyroid hormone. They may have to adjust it a few times before they figure it out. Give yourself a chance to get situated. If your thyroid's not right it could cause a miscarriage, so listen to your Doc.
