I love salsa con queso, & while I know it is not the most healthy choice, I was wondering if it is ok to eat while I am pregnant? I'm still a bit sure of the specific types of chesses that are ok/not ok! Thanks.

The cheese dip at Mexican restaurants is off limits for pg women. It can harbor listeria, a bacteria that could be very harmful to a fetus. I believe salsa con queso is made from the same type of cheese. I'd play it safe and stick to the salsa...

Trish # (or anyone else who may know) I just had some salsa con queso (Tostidos brand from the grocery) should I be worried??? My dr. is closed so I can't call them...someone help!

Actually, any cheeses that are sold in the US and Canada have to be pasteurized or they can't be sold. Listeria isn't much of a risk to pregnant women these days because of all the high food standards, it was mostly a worry for women who were pregnant before the 90's. Don't worry, you and your baby are just fine....like the previous posters have said, you may just get a rotten case of heartburn!!

I really wouldn't worry about it, it's only unpasteurized cheeses that you can't have. The stuff at restaurants just comes in a big bag and its approved by food standards.

EAT WHATEVER YOU WANT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT DONT MATTER ! There isn't a list of " what not to eat " foods while pregnant. Your a human...your baby is human....food is food !!!!
