Organic Solvent Expopsure

i was about 12 weeks before i finally knew i was pregnant..during that time I was painting (with oil based paints with the window open and air on..I paint portraits) but i am concerned because i would rinse my hands with paint thinner when done...very quickly..and no more than once a week..I would wash with soap and water immediately following...i don't want cancer...but i am nervous i hurt the baby...any one heard of any studies that talk about non occupational use of organic solvents causing birth defects? one time I remember smelling "Oops" (spot remover) for some time and getting it all over my hands while trying to get latex paint off of the carpet...but usually my exposure was brief ...but it was skin contact. (And it took me a long time to find out I was pregnant because I had a new baby and only had one or two sporadic periods after I stopped nursing her...didn't really think about it for a while...)..any thoughts on this
