Outside All Day

I am a teacher in deep south. Next month we will be going to a park type place for an all day event with the kids. We will be outside all day. There are very few shade areas ( and no time when I will be able to be in them) and no air conditioned locations. I will be on my feet all day and busy. By then I will be about 13 weeks pregnant. Does anyone know if this is okay or should I consult my doctor. It will be well over 80 degrees by the time we go.

I think as long as you don't get overheated, you should be fine. Make sure you drink plenty of water and take it easy whenever you can. The south is tough isn't it? I'm in Virginia and the humidity here is sometimes enough to make you choke. 80 degrees here is like 110 on the west coast. If you are really concerned, speak with your principal and see if you can have someone go in your place. :o)

It is terrible hot here with the humidity. I remember going on this trip last year.....sweating bullets the whole day! The kids are doing relay races and stuff and then putting on plays (part of their study of Greece) and we have to help them with all their stuff. No time really to sit except when we eat lunch. I am a little worried about the overheating thing and exhaustion, but I don't want to look like I am trying to find an excuse to not go or to not help out as much.

Talk to your doctor, explain it just like you did here and see what he says. Pregnancy is not an excuse to get out of anything, but it sure is a d__n good reason. Your baby is your #1 priority. :o)

Make sure you take some ice water and carry it around with you so you don't get overheated. Were something light in color so you don't get so hot.

I would say to stay hydrated for sure! Sit down when you can but I am sure you'll be fine. I was out in the sun ALL day on Saturday, hedging, lifting bags of leaves, digging holes and I am 24 weeks! I went mountain biking the week before. I just wore a hate and drank lots of water. At the end of the day I put my feet up and relaxed! If your considered a high risk pregnancy, then check with your doctor.
