Is it safe to have a baby if you are overwieight

I guess it depends on how overweight you are. It can make it riskier, but lots of overweight women manage to have healthy babies.

Check out a yahoo group called OPSS-L. It's for pregnant woman who are at least 50lbs overweight. Also check out www.plus-size-pregnancy.org. There's lots of helpful info there. I'm overweight, and 20 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child. Strangely enough, I weighed 40 pounds less at the beginning of this pregnancy than I did with my first, but I feel a lot worse this time around than I did then. If you're not pregnant yet, then you might be interested to know that sometimes it's harder to conceive when you're overweight, because fat cells produce a kind of estrogen, and your cycle can become irregular. If you're already pregnant, then congratulations, and you'll be fine. There are tons (no pun intended) of plus sized moms out there, and the great majority of us go through pregnancy safely.
