Ovulation Please Help

My hubby and I have been trying to concieve for quite some time now. I have been trying to track ovulation (cervical fluid, bbt etc.) Yesterday I felt like I ovulated and it would have been the right time, but I did not have any egg white cervical fluid. I never get much anyway - can this be the reason we can't concieve??? I was also on another pregnancy site and they had a thread on this issue - some women suggest inserting actual raw egg whites into your va___a... Is it just me, but won't that cause a major infection or has anyone tried this and been successful??? I would appreciate any responses!!! Thank You

Also, if I did ovulate yesterday - my hubby won't be back in town till Friday. Is that too late?

i have never heard of putting egg whites in your v____a(or would i try it) i think your best bet would be to but an ovulation predicter kit...i think they are $20-$30 and i am buying one myself next month

rose - I thought the same thing about putting egg whites in there. I guess when you are desperate you will try just about anything!!!!!!!!! I do have ovulation predictors and I did come up pos. on the test strip the day before I ovulated. I'm just wondering if my lack of cervical fluid is contributing to us not being able to concieve. Thanks!

i am not sure about the cervical fluid...i pulled this off the net for you(ive also heard other women on this site say the same thing)....... two tablespoons of cough medicine (any expectorant that contains guaifenesin as the only active ingredient) before ovulation as a means of making cervical mucus more hospitable.

Thank You rose, I will try that next time. I think it may be too late this time, Do you know how long an egg stays viable for conception? I have heard anything from 24 hours to 72 hours.

i have always heard that the egg stays viable for one day, but i could be wrong...i am going to take robitussin next month also (i heard it can really help when taking clomid) good luck ttc

I cut and pasted this from tryingtoconcieve.com - Egg whites can provide a mucus-like environment which is sperm friendly. Take an egg out of the fridge set it on the counter for approximately 1 hour, so it can reach room temp. Before DTD, crack open the egg separate the yolk from the white and insert the room temperature white gently into your v____a To prevent infection, be sure to insert the egg white immediately. After you crack open the egg DO NOT leave it at room temperature for more than a few minutes. I understand that egg white is used in labs for sperm storage! Worried about bacteria? It is the yolk not the egg white that would carry bacteria. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It is better to use eggs from "cage free" farms, They are in the "natural" food section in the grocery store. I use a plastic applicator (the kind that comes with Monistat) and pour the egg whites into the appicator by using a spoon (this takes a long time) or a funnel. It is optional to beat the egg whites to loosen them up. The amount to use is one applicator full. You must prop your hips up on pillows before inserting the egg whites. If it's comfortable, it is better to BD while propped up on pillows so that the egg whites will not spill out. Some will still spill out, but at least the majority will not. If any one has any other ideas on this process, please feel free to post a m

On my third month conceiving I took Robitussin (w. guifessin-Sp?) and got preggers. That egg white thing seems a tad to scary!

You know what... the egg whites thing does sound a little scary, but at this point, i'm willing to try just about anything. maybe my hubby and i will try it and the cough syrup. I hope something works, although he may flip out about the whole egg whites thing. LOL
