Hubby and I painted our nursery yesturday and I was feeling realy guilty about it. We had the windows open and a fan blowing the whole time. Does anyone know that it realy will harm the baby? Am I a horrible person for putting the baby through those fumes? Please be honest.

As long as it's latex paint, painting is fine.Oil based paint fumes are harmful if inhaled for long periods of time pregnant or not pregnant. In a well ventilated room the vapors wouldn't be strong enough to hurt anything. No you did right by opening a window.Alot of people forget to put safety first.Good job.:)

Was it water based paint? All paints have fumes but water is better of them all; then acrylic/latex then oil. As long as you had the windows open and the fan I would not worry. Think of what you breath in when a car drives by you on the street with a really bad exhaust. Baby will be ok! :) P.S. What colour did you paint the room???

Well we did a baby green on three of the four walls, And than yellow on the accent wall where his crib will be. And we bought whinney the pooh characters to put on the walls.

Lisa- water based paint IS acrylic/latex paint. The other kinds of water based paint you would not put on your walls! (Tempera, watercolor...) Latex is fine. I think everything I have read said to open a window just so you don't get sick from the fumes. Oil is definetly not fine. Makes me sad because I am an artist. :(
