What exactly does a doctor look for in a pelvic exam? I've heard women say their doctor's said they're not pregnant because they couldn't feel it. What are they looking to feel? If they can feel it, shouldn't we be able to? Sorry if this sounds stupid, but I am just wondering when (how many weeks along) you should be able to feel something in your pelvic region?...is that where? ...what does it feel like?

they feel for the uterus to see if its enlarged any. Thats why they usually want to do it at 8 plus weeks

how do you know if the uterus is enlarged? Can you feel it yourself -- is it like a lump?

usually after 12 weeks you can feel the uterus if you probe just above your pubic bone. I can just feel mine now and I'm 13 weeks.
