My glucose level was 144 at my one hour glucose tolerency test. So I had to go in for the 3 hr. I am very nervous about the results and can't seem to east my mind. Has anyone had an experience with the 3 hour test. I would like to hear other's stories. Thanks!

Just as an update... I did get those results back. And there was no reason for me to be worried all along **sigh of relief**. All four of my levels on the 3 hour test came back well within the "normal range". The 1 hour result was even lower than it was on the first test, and you drink 2X the glucose at the 3 hour test!!! Good luck to everyone else :))

hello - March 8

when do you take this test and what is it testing for?

Jenn - March 8

You usually are tested for this between 24-28 weeks. It is testing for gestational diabetes. You drink a glucose beverage (taste like flat orange soda) and then draw some blood one hour later. If your glucose level is above 140 they send you for additional testing (2X glucose and they draw the blood 4 X in 3hrs). If it below 140 the first time, then no worries, you never have to take the 3 hr test.

Hi Jenn, Even my Glucose Level was high 1st time and on repeated 3 hr test, it still showed values outside normal reference range. First of all, there is nothing to be nervous about it. My doctor has a__sured me, by following a proper diet plan (with almost nil sugar) till the delivery, it can still be a smooth ride. So, just relax, after your test and results, ask your doctor what is best in ur case and I am sure, it can be handled well. Best of Luck!

When you got your 3 hour GTT results what were the readings?

JB - June 10

I was diagnosed last month with gestational diabetes. My numbers at my 3 hour test were 85, 186, 110, 122. I met with the nutritionist and she put me on a diet and I had to test my blood sugar 4 times a day. Then last week I went in for a follow up with the nutritionist my numbers have been in the lower range 70-130 and so now I only have to test twice a day and I won't need to see her anymore. I just have to show my doctor my numbers on my regular visits.

Kinda confused with your readings.I was told between 125-140 is normal. My first test came back 141 so i had to do the 3-hour test and that one came back normal, which means i dont have GB
