is it ok to fly if pregnant?

I had the same question, so I looked it up on the internet, I read several different things about it and it is safe. The only thing I read that you need to worry about is that perhaps flying in your 1st trimester isn't a good idea b/c their is a small risk of radiation and fetus in the first trimester could be affected, but it would be rare even then, the second trimester is the best time to fly b/c you've usually gotten over your morning sickness by then and the baby will be safe at this stage. Once you reach your third trimester you will need to check with your airline first to make sure that they will allow you to fly at this stage also check with your doctor so if an emergency happens you can set up a doctor that you can see in your destination. Also there is a higher risk of DVP deep vein thrombosis, it is where you could get a blood clot from sitting too long, you need to get up frequently while flying to prevent this. It could happen to anyone but pregnant women are a higher risk. Hope this helps.

you should try to fly in the second trimester. A lot of airlines won't let you fly later on because they don't want you going into premature labor on the plane.

Yes, I am flying internationally from South Korea back to Canada to have my baby in my 31st week. I will be getting a note from my OBGYN here stating that I am good to fly.
