Question About Blood Tests

Does anyone know ---- How long after conception can a blood test pick up hcg? I don't know if I conceived this month, but if I did, it was most likely somewhere between Sunday and Tuesday (2-5 days ago) ... is it too soon to request a blood test?

It is detectable within 10 days after fetilization, but there is no exact number to give. I think it is too soon and most clinics want you to miss a period b4 they can justify (to insurance carriers) that a test needs to be done. Poor M. I know you must be so anxious!! We are too:)

The earliest is around 7 days, post conception. Call your clinic and ask them if they are able to do a Qnt hCG that early. I think they may say "no" as it is not deemed necessary at that point.

I'll tell you a secret. I ordered 20 of those hpt strips on line Monday. They came yesterday. So I'm sure you can guess where I'm going with this..... Yep, I got up this morning and took one. Stupid of me, I know!! Patience is not my virtue! :o) The result was that after an hour, my eyes played tricks on me and I saw the faintest line possible, but it was so d__n faint that I question whether or not it was even there. Dare I say I may have seen my first evaporation line! LOL Because obviously it's waaaaayyyyy too soon for a BFP! Anyway, I've lost my mind. It's either evap line or hallucinations!!Too bad I don't have my "longneck" pals to comfort me in my time of need. LOL. E, I think you know me well enough to know that I miss my beer and wine already! -- Feel free to go ahead and laugh at my dumb a__s! I'm embara__sed to tell this story, but oh well. If nothing else, maybe you gals will get a laugh at my expense. :o)

You crack me up. If it was an evap line, you can be sure those ladies will be pointing their mice at you! I would be doing the same thing, if I were in your shoes. What is wasting 20 strips if it satisfies that urge to find out? Sort of an OCD type thing women go through when ttc. Test again tomorrow morning and let me know. I will not be able to post till next week so if it is positive, I can't "woohoo" for you.
