Question About The Pill And Pregnancy

I have a few questions but I am going to start out with this one. My friend was on the pill and supposedly has been for a long time. If she was to take a pill late, meaning later in the day (she says she normally takes it in the morning) would that leave her open to get pregnant? She said she had a positive and then went to PP and had it confirmed. She says because she was late with a pill is why she is pregnant. So I am wondering if this is possible? The reason I am asking is because things have been weird..... to make a long story short everything leading up to this has made me feel like she is trying to trap me. We met online and became friends. After a year we had built some s_xual tension and decided to meet and since then she comes over to my house like once every one to two weeks sometimes stays for a couple of days. The only thing we ever do is she comes over, we eat and watch movies. Withing a month after we met she is telling me she loves me. I like her and care about her but I don't love her and have made that clear. I don't really know her and she doesn't know me. It kinda freaks me out. I mean she has 2 kids and a house and I have never seen either of them. She has been talking about a future between us and I have made it very clear to her that it is to early and we just don't know each other. Anyway I thought I would give a little info so you would understand where I am coming from with this question.

I believe only the "mini-pill" would be sensative to the time of day that it is taken. Most pills are not a problem as long as it is taken daily. You should try to find out the name of the pill she takes and look it up. Do you know for a fact that she is truly pregnant? Do you also know for a fact that a baby could only be yours and noone elses? If you don't know each other very well, I would be hesitant to take responsibility without further proof. Ask to go to her next doctor appt and attend a dating ultrasound to determine when the baby was conceived.

Just a clarification on the pill, it's still 99% effective if taken properly. Much less if she misses it for a day or more.

As far as I know she is pregnant from what she said. She knows I would be very mad and break it off if she was lying. I don't know what pill she was taking but I honestly think she planned this. I believe she is insecure about us since I make it clear how I feel. I'm really freaked. I just got laid off and god knows when and if I can find a job. I plan on selling my house because I just don't know what’s going to happen with finding a job and being able to pay the mortgage. She’s got this semester until she’s done with her nursing degree and has been talking about us moving in together. (This was before all this) Now she’s talking about renting her house and moving in here. ..... and setting up the spare bedroom for the baby. Sorry for the drama. I probably should be talking about this in another part of the forum.

I'm sorry you're in such a tough situation. Do you plan to confront her about her possibly planning this? It does not sound to me like you are ready for a live-in situation- are you in agreement with her plans?

You would be surprised. I got pregnant twice while on the pill. The first time, I took it every day at the same time. My doctor just shrugged and said "Maybe you got used to it cause you were on the same brand for 10 years." The second time, (right now), I would take it (different brand) in the morning before cla__s. But on the days I didn't have cla__s, I took it when I woke up. (That could have been as last as 3pm). And yes, that can leave you open to pregnancy. There is a chance.

By the way, if you're that concerned with her lying... ask her to take a test right in front of you. And if you can't even trust her to tell you the truth about things like this... why are you sleeping with her? Isn't that asking for trouble?
