Well my wife and I have been considering on having a child but we never acted on it. We finally decided to go for it. My wife had just finished her period the day before. Can she get pregnant days after her period? Concerned man.

Usually it's anywhere from 10-15 days after the first day of her last period is when ovulation can occur. Everyone is different but if I were trying to concieve, I would between 10-15 days from the first day of my period. Some women ovulate during their period. Has your wife kept track of her ovulation before this?

Hi Jess...most likely she did not get pregnant if you had s_x the day (or a couple days) after her period. A woman ovulates around 10-14 days after her period. So, you'd need to wait until about 7 days after her period to start trying. Typically, sperm can live up to 3-5 days, so you'd need to go for it as much as you can around that "O" day. If she keeps track of her cervical mucous (discharge) after her period, she should notice that it will get slippery and clear (and stretchy) close to her "O" day. That is the most fertile time - DO IT THEN!! Good luck!

Doctors would usually tell you to start have s_x at day 10 after your period and have it at least every other day until day 16. good luck
