Im 39 weeks and Due Sept 3.. I want to go ahead and welcome my son to the world... I have walked and walked and been very active, had s_x and still no signs of labor for me yet... I have bad back pains and cramping almost 24/7 but I am only dialated to 1 as of this past Tuesday.. This is my first.. Any suggestions on how to go into labor safely would be greatly appreciated......!!

I have only heard of s_x and spicy foods....sounds like you are trying everything you should be. Remember, the baby will come when it is ready...

One day while at LabCorp (I don't know if you know of them--they are a place to go to have blood work done, as well as other things I'm sure, but I've only ever been there for blood work), I heard that taking black cohosh can sometimes start uterine contractions. I don't know if it's safe or effective, so please read into it if you're interested, just wanted to throw it out to you. Or caster oil, but I hear that will cause cramps no matter what, and may or may not start labor. Good luck, and let me know if it works for you (I'm only 28 weeks, 5 days--so in another 10 weeks, I'll be looking for something too!)

Just found this website--looks like DON'T take Black Cohosh, try the Blue Cohosh, maybe? http://www.wholehealthmd.com/refshelf/substances_view/1,1525,10009,00.html

the best thing you can get is some patience... the baby will come when he is ready, and as the mother of three and 28 weeks, I feel your pain :) - but trying to rush things isn't a good idea for you - it will make labor longer and harder - or your son... But since you are already starting to dialate take heart, it will be soon! Best of luck to you and your family... :)
