Ok .ladies I am freaking out now.I just came from one of my daily bathroom trips I wash my hands and looked in the mirror and the reality of being someone's mother clicked in. I am sacred to h__l and even crying right now. I was imaging changing the baby's clothes all of a sudden I felt as if I could not do it and would not know what to do. What is happening ??

Karen, you are totally normal! It is so easy to be scared of the changes that you are going through and the adjustments you will make to your life. You will have a mother's instinct and know how to take care of your baby, with help from family, friends, and your doctor. Don't worry too much and maybe you can try to get a book on newborns so you feel like you are more familiar with what to expect. Good luck!

How far along are you? I know how you feel. I think it hits everyone differently. Luckily I've been so busy with our new house being built and working like mad that it hasn't set in with me yet and I'm not showing yet so sometimes I forget I'm even pregnant and it's almost like the morning sickness was a bout of the flu and I have to remind myself that I will start to show one of these days and in October my world is going to completely change!!! It's okay though! You'll be just fine. I think it's scarier than what we anticipate it to be. I know I posted that other stuff before but it's all funny to me and even though I don't know squat about babies, I think I'll be just fine. My friends said it goes really fast too and before you know it they're crawling around and walking and not as fragile. I just have to get past that newborn fragile state and I know that doesn't last long. You - we - will be okay! Don't panic! I've had similar attacks like yours but mine is, how the hell are we gonna afford this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm also not afraid to admit that I will probably buy one of those books like Infants for Dummies or something like that. Ha ha! Books are VERY helpful. And don't be afraid to ask your mom either. I live next door to mine so I'm sure I'll be calling her 24/7!

Heidi, I have my books picked out too. Are we crazy or what ? My mom is next door too, my mom in law will be coming to help later on. I joked to my mom about putting the crib in her room cause she has lots of space. She said Yea sure !!! ( in a joking tone of course). For now the crib is going to be in our (bf and I) room and on the side he sleeps on. We have been fighting for that side for a long time. Glad he won that one now.!!! HAHA

I know it's going by fast. When I found out I was 3 wks pg we just decided to build our house. So we had to move out right away because they were tearing down our old one so we moved next door to mom and dad's and it's been just a zoo and I was so sick at first and now the house is almost done so in no time we'll be moving back in, doing the landscaping and getting the house painted and organized and then summer will be here and his daughter should be here to visit one of those months so that will fly by and then fall will be here and the baby is due Oct. 20th and I'm pulling my hair out already! I haven't even thought about baby shopping yet but I plan on hitting rummage sales next month to get started and see if I can't save some money on gently used stuff first. Then whatever I don't get at the shower, I'll buy this fall. We will have to do daycare so that's why I worry about the $$ part of it, plus the extra health insurance and the new house payment. Ahh! I'll need a valium after the baby is born. Ha ha!

I plan to start my shopping in June I am due the first week in Oct. We have general elections coming up next month (goverment). My work place is closing down, so we are extremly busy winding down. After the baby comes I am offically jobless. I have exams in June and then the hot summer to deal with, no plans yet. Then comes Oct. After I stop b___st feeding I gonna have a very strong drink or commit my self to an inst_tution. HA HA HA.

Right now I am reading What to expect When expecting( authors Arlene Eisenburg, Hedi E Murkoff and Sandee E Hathaway) and Your Pregnancy Week by Week (Authors are Glade B Curtis and Juith Schular) The Pregnany Week by Week also have the first years Week by Week which I plan to purchase later on. Hope these help. I find them to be helpful. They are full of information ( some not revalent) so I have to filter and use what is necessary. Best of luck.

Karen - the book "What to Expect When you Are Expecting" has been recommended to me by just about every women who has had a baby on this side of the planet, so I bought it and I do agree it is a good book, pretty informative. I have also gotten the book (given to me) The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy which is pretty good as well.
