When my dr told me that the rubella test came back positive, i got scared and had a sad worried puppy dog face. but then she told me that its supposed to be positive and that my mother did what she was supposed to do when i was a baby and got me all of my shots. so then i felt kind of stupid for thinking something was wrong with me . silly me hehe

I had to have the rubella shot after I had my first daughter. I gues they run out. I tested positive for mine. I had one when I was younger....but anyhow....its not biggie.

What rubella?

Well, to let you know, first of all, I am a Lab Tech, not a Doc. But, by your Rubella coming back "not good" do you mean that you are immune or not immune to it??? I think that if you don't know, you should talk to your doc. If you are immune, no worries. This means you got your shots, or were exposed to it sometime during your life, and your body has built up antibodies against this virus. If you are not immune (i.e. your "antibody t_ter" isn't high enough), then you do pose a chance of contracting rubella (also look up "german measles"), which is only about 1 in 747,252 in USA. You may have been vaccinated, but you pa__sed some of your antibodies (this is what good moms do) to your baby via the placenta, or you were never vaccinated against it. If you live in the USA, I wouldn't be overly concerned about it because the incidence of outbreak has been severely reduced by the MMR vaccination. Just FYI, my Rubella t_ter dropped to non-immune status while I was pregnant, but rose back to immune status 18 months after birth.
