I am wondering if it is unsafe to tan while pregnant and if it is, what about the new mystic tan( the spray on tan). Is there some other way to a have a tan while pregnant?

Tanning is one of the issues that is widely debated between "experts". From what I've heard, the general concensus is that actual tanning (either outside or in a bed) is harmful and should be avoided. I think it has something to do with the UVA/UVB rays and the excessive heat. The mystic tan option is what's more controversial. My personal theory is that the mystic tan is nothing more than a chemical that absorbs directly into your skin. And like all chemicals (paint, cleaning supplies, etc.) should therefore be avoided during pregnancy. I asked the same question a few months ago and was told that Mystic tan was too new to have any real clinical data so all this is just my personal opinion. But the way I look at it is why risk the health of your baby for something as unimportant as a fake tan...
