Spots And Rashes During Pregnancy

Is anyone else having troubles with their skin at the moment? I've got a rash of little spots covering my stomach, and my skin on my face is getting quite greasy (along with my hair!) with dry patches in certain places. Also I've got ulcers in my mouth, which are really making me feel low. If anyone has any advice I'd really love to hear it!

Spots are common in pregnancy due to the changes in hormones, but if you've got ulcers it sounds like you're run down and deficient in something. You should go to the Doctor, because you might just need to take a vitamin supplement to get you through pregnancy. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks Foxy. I think I am run down - I'm struggling to sleep at the moment and then when I eventually nod off it's time to get up for work. It's a vicious circle!

Lack of sleep is a definite cause of mouth ulcers even when you're not pregnant. I'm prone to them myself. Is there anything you can do to help you relax at night, like a hot bath? Some people recommend putting a drop of lavender on your pillow at night. Ma__sages are good to if you can get someone to do it.

Does the rash on your belly itch? If so, go to your Dr. ASAP!!!!!! I too had this with my first pregnancy and not knowing i suffered for weeks. When I called the nurse at the Dr. office she kept saying it was just stretchmakrs itching. When my Dr. finally saw it, days before delivery, he was schocked. The rash I had is called PUPPS and it is very painfull. There is treatment but once i figured out what it was i was induced so it didn't really matter. I am pregnant again and one of the first questions I ask my Dr. was if I get this again, what are we going to do. Now we have a plan in place so if it happens this time I won't have to suffer. Good luck.

I had a rash on my arms so I called my OB and they said to go see my reg dr so I did. He told me he thought is was an allergy and he's commonly seen women get these rashes (like I had) from the dyes in prenantal vitimans.

I too had PUPPP's rash with my son--it is terrible!!! If the bumps itch, that very well could be it--it starts on your stretch marks and SPREADS LIKE WILDFIRE. The only treatment my doc said was available was to have the baby--so they induced me @ 38 weeks, after suffering from it for only one week, luckily b/c someone I knew had it w/ their pregnancy, and knew how to spot it. DEFINITELY keep an eye out for it . . . but the other skin changes sound like regular pregnancy hormones, and I agree with the early comments about the ulcers, definitely try to relax!

My wife had PUPPS, but it went away after she was given a cream ointment from her dermatologist. Nasty rash! Good luck...

My wife isn't due for another month. When the baby comes and my pregnancy questions are over, I will leave. In the meantime, you have to deal with me...
