Mindy - April 11

I, like an idiot...feel asleep in the sun...i am 12 weeks pregnant and burnt to a crisp...it hurts to wear clothes...how bad is it and what can i do to eel better?

Had your first lesson in the sun, didja? Well, at this point, it's all about damage control. Go to your nearest pharmacy, and ask for PURE ALOE VERA GEL. Not the name-brand hawaiian tropic-kind. It should be CLEAR, NOT GREEN! Apply, apply, apply. Stick to cool baths to bring down your skin's temp. The baby will be fine, as long as you are aware, that now you are burned so bad, you need twice the water intake!!! DRINK DRINK DRINK. Your skin will use as much water as it can to flush and stay cool, so drink some more! The worst will be yet to come, if you don't completely moisturize your skin with the aloe gel. Your skin will ultimately dry out and itch in a painful sort of way, but be sensitive, so you can't scratch it! Really, get the aloe gel. It will be worth the expense, and the fight to find it. It's what hospitals use for burn victims! And really, right now, that's what you are. SO Drink, aloe... don't drink the aloe.. lol... aloe, THEN drink, aloe again.. drink again. If you do this diligintly, you'll be fine. If not, my sympathies!

Oh, and btw, should you live in a little town, with no aloe gel, DON"T settle for the 'green' kind. Read the ingredients!!!! It will most likely have alcohol as one of them, and that will FURTHER DRY OUT YOUR SKIN!!!! They use it as a means of diluting the product to make it stretch farther, at the cost of your skin!!! Stay natural! And use it the second you come out of the bath, everytime you itch or feel hot again! *whew* Long-winded woman strikes again! ;)
