Im 23 weeks pregnant and really suffering with swollen ankles and feet. It makes no differences how long I keep my feet up or keep the circulation going. Does anyone have any ideas for reducing the swelling. I get numb soles and heels too! Not nice when wearing sandals!!!

I combat cankles by keeping my feet up, drinking water, avoiding sodium, and exercising. Also, I noticed that when I wear tennis shoes all day as opposed to sandals or heels, my ankles tend to swell less.

I am a bartender in tx. and I have to stand on my feet for 6-8 hours so my 26month pregnant legs are sooooo sore and swollen when i get home but i heard ma__saging them only makes vericose vains worse. so I wear non tight tube socks under my pants to keep my legs from circulating wierd and addidas running shoes and eat less salt but thats about all we can do :(

I've read that putting your feet up can make circulation problems worse, even though it feels so good. Walking is supposed to be the best thing for swelling, because your calf muscles pump the blood back toward your heart. I bought relaxed fit socks (I never knew they existed before) in the men's department to try to help my feet and ankles get the blood they need, and I got my doctor to write me a note so I don't have to work 9 hour shifts anymore. It's strange, though, during my last pregnancy I sat 90% of the time at work, and I had terrible swelling. I stand the entire day now, and have only mild swelling so far.
