No doctors don't recommend while you are pregnant the heat is too much for the baby

Especially in your first trimester

Ask your doc if a self tanner is okay. I also read that the sun does not do any harm to the baby. Just your own skin. Ask you doc. I would think too long of exposure is bad as you'd get to hot so I'm sure you'll be fine once you get down there. I'd try the self tanner.

The risk is in the heat, not the rays. If you overheat, it could cause extensive damage to the baby. Heidi mentioned self tanner, and I agree. Have you tried the spray-ons? I haven't ever done it, but my sister did and she looked great! If you get someone who knows what they're doing, you'll be amazed at how natural it looks! And as for the sunburns, pleeeeease use a good sunblock with a fairly high number! Even though the rays won't penetrate past a few layers of skin, the heat of a sunburn is so bad for you and your baby! Good luck and be careful! Oh, and have fun!! :o)

I think that if you tan at least lay something over your belly to protect your child. You don't want it to come out of you with a disable problem

Just use self tanner. It's safer. You just don't want to get real hot. I would think laying out for 15 minutes wouldn't hurt you but a tanning bed gets too hot. I plan to get some sun this summer but outside, not in a bed, and not burnt to a crisp!
