Temperature Please Help

Okay -- I've been trying to get pregnant just on the feeling of my ovulation - no charting. I'm 8 days po and decided to take my temp this morning just to see what it was -- it was 97.6 -- wouldn't that be kind of low if I was pregnant? I heard that after ovulation, if you're pregnant, your temp is supposed to stay up for 18-20 days (like over 98.0) Has anyone ever had a lower temp and was pregnant? I'm driving myself crazy wondering if I'm pregnant!!

your doing the temp all wrong so don't rely on it.

What do you mean? I know I should have been charting for the last month, but all the charts I've looked at one the internet (in which a person is in the same po day), when one is pregnant the temp is over 98.0 - is that not always true?

in order to use temperature to track fertility you need a basal thermometer and you have to take your temp at the EXACT same time of day, prior to getting up and out of bed. (which raises your temperature.) it's not like on tv where the woman takes her temp at the office and rushes home to have s_x becasue she's ovulating. personally i never found much use for the temperature when we were trying to concieve. cervical changes and CM were much more reliable. but i know alot of women who swear by the temp.

I did use a digital thermometer, not a basal one and I took it before I got out of bed this morning. I just thought my temp would be much higher because I really think I may be pregnant, but now I wonder because my temp is not over 98.0.

I just went to the doctor on Monday and he told me that taking your temp is really not going to do you much good because once your temp peaks, you have already ovulated. Good luck in getting pregnant....relax and fun trying!!!!

It depends on what's normal for you. If your body temp is usually really low than 97.6 might not be that low for you. You'd really have to do it daily and accurately to see changes. When i was pregnant mt body temp was around the mid 99's during the day, but I never temped in the morning.

Carrie I just started taking my temperature this month and my low temp is 95.4 With ovulation it was 97/5. Look for a 2 degree increase. Most people have a low temperature while asleep cause they aren't doing anthing to generate heat. Good luck.
