Confused and Need HELP!! - September 6

I recently was put on the pill for terrible cramps and irregular periods. My boyfriend and I have been seriously discussing having s_x. If I wasn't on the pill I would be ovulating Sep. 17-21st. Will I still ovulate at the same time as normal even though I am on the pill now? And is it really true that the pill takes effect after a week? Or is it best to wait longer then that?

It can take up to 2-3weeks forthe pill to work fully, but just remember the pill isn't as safe as it sounds it is only 98% contreseptive so recommend if you are going to have s_xual intercourse still use a condom just to be safe.

Hey there, when you are on the pill you don't ovulate. That's how it works, you can't get pregnant if there is no egg to fertilize :). My pills say use other methods of protection until you have been on the pill for 7 days. Can't tell you if this is how it is for all pills though. Good luck!

There are different types of pills. Progestrone mini pills do not stop ovulation, they only increase the lining of the uterus to make implantation of a fertilized egg more difficult. Pills that contain more estrogen normally stop ovulation. Check with your doctor to find out what type of pill they have put you on. With any form of pill, additional contraceptives are encouraged to prevent STIs and unwanted pregnancies. Personally to be on the safe side I would wait for a month before engaging in unprotected intercourse to give the pill a chance to build up in your system. Hope this helps :).
