Hi BBK - I have been away from the site for a long time and returned to see you here, full of great and informative advice. I know you are male and I think you have a pregnant wife? Correct me if I am wrong. Just wondering what your expertise is as you seem scientifically-minded. I am nosy today:)

I think that his wife is about seven months along and someone in his family, maybe his mom, is a retired OBGYN....

:-)) E, you're correct. My wife is VERY pregnant. 34.5 weeks and she looks like 40+ weeks :-) Baby is regular size though, so it must be H2O....my background: my dad is a cardiologist, my mom a gynecologist, my brother an oncologist. Obviously I was pushed to the medical career path by I found out early I can't deal with clinical stuff (and sick people) so to my dad's disappointment I opted for physiology and biology. Graduated with a physiology bachelors and got a masters in Biochem. I taught undergrad for a few years, then got a job in a major drug company, started at the lab, then moved on to sales support, then sales, then management. Now I'm a product manager for a antibiotic sold mostly to hospitals. I still keep up with research as I have access to pretty much all of it. Much of it is on the internet, but quite a bit of it is too technical for most people. How far along are you?

Thanks for the clarification. I also have a science background and my husband is a scientist, who wishes he had pursued writing instead. Good for you that you broke away while you had time. So many wish they had. I had my baby on 3/21/05 but I am back to this site to chat about infant care and b___stfeeding. FUN!! Right... I like to add my two cents here and there, when I think it matters. Best of luck to you and yours. You may be heading to the hospital any day. I went at 37 weeks. I will watch for pictures on this site, if you share any:)

BBK - June 8

You know, I'll start carrying the hospital bag and the cord blood kit everywhere we go now. I still have to deal with Doctors at conventions etc, but they're usually surprised by my answers. Pictures? of course, I got the camera ready. What subjects did you and your husband study?

Pack for 4 nights rather than 2. You will not want to worry about going home, should she have a c-section. I have a BA in psychology but found myself working in the pulmonary unit (asthma/allergy), thanks to some immunohistochemistry skills I picked up at a previous laboratory. My husband is a postdoctoral fellow in neuroscience.

BBK - June 8

Wow E! That's pretty impressive. I was always intrigued by psychology. Neuroscience is just hard-core! Thanks for the tips . I'll probably "milk" you (no pun intended :)) for more info later.... Congratulations on the baby!!! any pics? My wife's hormones are at an all time high again, and she's nesting like crazy. I've spent the last 4 evenings with cleaners and paper-towels.... she re-touches after me, and gives me a lecture on how I suck at cleaning.... oh boy! Our apartment looks really clean though :-)

E - June 8

Feel free to ask me anything. LOL about the cleaning and how you don't do a good enough job. Face it, women do everything better than men:) Just kidding. I was the same way with my husband and could not understand why he didn't do things exactly the way I wanted them done. I need to update my site but I have baby pics at: AjaEsp.funtigo.com

Yes, I can write a book on the superiority of XX chromosomes and how female brainlobes being closer together makes you better mult_taskers.... but you women have downsides too. Your baby is adorable, though I presume the looks have changed by now. When do things start to sort of become normal?!

E - June 8

Thanks BBK!! He is a cutie and has filled out quite a bit. I will update the site soon Things started to become normal around the 6 week mark. He seemed to know who we were, and we felt as if we knew him, and understood his needs better. Today, at almost 3 months, we are totally in sync.

OMG! The 4-3-05 picture is soooo cute! The sleeping smile! Very sweet little boy!

E - June 8

Thanks Steph!! That is my favorite picture. I couldn't believe my camera acted quickly enough to capture it.
