Traveling Uterus Uncommon

I am 13 weeks pregnant with my second child and since showing earlier with subsequent pregnancies is normal, the shock of laying down last night and realizing I could already see and feel my 13 week old move didnt phase me. I was shocked however, that the lump I for months figured to be constipation was actually the baby. Because it was on the left side of my stomach, I was early in pregnancy, and it was level with my belly button (which happens to be very high) 'baby' never even crossed my mind. I figured the baby was sitting down in the pelvis like normal. Is the uterus supposed to be that out of whack? Not only does it sit extremely high and to the side (perfectly normal later in pregnancy), but the baby also managed to move itself up to my ribcage. I know muscles are more loose now, so maybe this is all just normal, but I was surprised to see a free moving uterus with such a small baby. Anyone heard of or experienced this?

I don't think your uterus moves at all. Your uterus should be just above your pubic bone at 13 weeks. I think you're seeing something else. What, I don't know. It's way too early to see your baby move. I'm on #4 and while I felt it early I couldn't "see anything" until much much later. Ask your Dr. what you may be seeing so that you can ease your mind.

Thats why I was so shocked (the uterus is supposed to be snuggled in the pelvis), Of course it is attatched to where it is supposed to be, but like any organ, shifting can and does occur. I am definitely seeing the baby (I can only see it move when I lay down and the bump protrudes out of my stomache). When nudged, there is obvious movement and position change, which of course I couldnt confirm as the baby simply by sight, but I have confirmed with touch, and 'feeling' the baby move, which any mother can recognize. I havent had a sonogram yet, The baby may be a few weeks older than predicted, hopefully it gets cleared up next week :) Thanks for the comment Patti Megan.

My little girl did the same thing, just not until I was around 5 months. Okay, so as far as you know, a three month old in womb shouldnt typically be able to 'roam' the place yet, so to speak? Thank you :) -Megan
