I was told by my doctor that I had abnormal results for down syndrome from my triple screen test. Should I panic? How accurate is this test?

Don't panic. I also had a false positive. I was sent to OB/Gyn specialist for a level 2 ultrasound. There is absolutley no way my little boy has downs. No signs what-so-ever. The triple screen is just a preliminary test, it does not mean your baby has downs. Good Luck.

Thanks Melissa30. I had an amnio and found out everything is fine. I'm having a healthy baby boy!

What is a triple screen test? Does it hurt?

The triple screen test is just a blood test. The lab just draws blood and tests it for abnormal hormones that the baby puts off. No it doesn't hurt.

When does the doctor do the blood tests - triple screen tests? I'm just curious.

Sometimes it is done between 15-20 weeks of pregnancy.

My test was done at 18 weeks. That is when my doctor said it usually done.
